According to the latest industry market survey from GAMA data, single-engine turboprops remain the most active segment. The Cessna Caravan, Daher TBM 980, Pilatus PC-12, and Kodiak 900 continue to lead sales charts globally.
Industry analysts note that while light jets command higher speeds, turboprops offer unbeatable economics, lower fuel burn, and the ability to operate from shorter, less-developed runways, maintaining their status as the backbone of utility aviation.
GAMA's latest quarterly report showed that single-engine turboprop deliveries increased by 8.3 percent year-over-year, while billings for the segment surpassed $1.2 billion — the highest figure since 2008. Market dynamics are also being reshaped by the rapid expansion of e-commerce logistics, with companies like FedEx, UPS, and Amazon increasingly relying on turboprops for last-mile cargo feeder routes. Looking ahead, analysts forecast continued strength in the turboprop segment through the end of the decade.

ZeroAvia has reached a significant milestone in the development of its zero-emission ZA600 hydrogen-electric powertrain, completing advanced ground testing runs on its specialized regional turboprop testbed.
The ZA600 system is engineered to retro-fit existing utility and regional turboprop aircraft, utilizing hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity for electric propulsion. ZeroAvia projects that the system will deliver twice the efficiency of traditional combustion turbines while dramatically cutting maintenance costs.
The ZA600 powertrain is designed to produce 600 kilowatts of continuous power — roughly equivalent to the output of a standard PT6A turboprop engine — while eliminating carbon emissions entirely. The only byproduct of the process is water vapor, making it a truly zero-emission propulsion solution for regional aviation.
The company has secured over $150 million in funding from investors including Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund, British Airways, and the U.S. Department of Energy. ZeroAvia aims to achieve FAA supplemental type certification (STC) by 2027, with commercial retrofit kits available to operators shortly thereafter.

Daher has officially launched its newest high-speed single-engine turboprop, the TBM 980, representing a major technological leap forward for the renowned personal and corporate aircraft lineup.
The defining feature of the TBM 980 is the integration of the state-of-the-art Garmin G3000 Prime touchscreen flight deck. This next-generation avionics suite brings highly intuitive controls, advanced automation, and sophisticated e-copilot safety features directly to the cockpit.
Performance-wise, the TBM 980 cruises at speeds up to 330 knots true airspeed at Flight Level 310 (31,000 feet), giving it performance figures that rival many light jets while burning less than half the fuel. With a range exceeding 1,730 nautical miles, the aircraft can connect city pairs like New York to Miami or London to Athens nonstop, carrying up to six passengers in a pressurized, air-conditioned cabin.
The G3000 Prime features three high-resolution touchscreen displays, integrated autothrottle, Emergency Descent Mode, and Garmin's revolutionary Autoland system — which can autonomously land the aircraft at the nearest suitable airport if the pilot becomes incapacitated.

On Monday, Collins Aerospace announced a comprehensive avionics upgrade and modernization program for Beechcraft King Air and Hawker aircraft, spanning the Pro Line Fusion and Pro Line 21 advanced avionics systems.
The modernization program will advance aircraft performance and safety while equipping cockpits with technology to reduce pilot workload, improve situational awareness, and allow for efficiency and capacity enhancements.
